Invitation Only

How timely is TrulyMail's Invitation Only form of communication? The more we see, the more we are convinced that it is very timely indeed.

We are seeing more and more people switching to web-based email introduction methods, presumably because they are unfamiliar with TrulyMail. They say something to the effect of being overwhelmed by spam and in order to stop spam in its tracks, you must submit your information, including email address, to them and if you seem to be truly interested in communicating with them (as opposed to spamming them) then they will contact you and from then on you can continue via email.

We are not surprised that some people are going through all this trouble. After all, spam wastes so much of our time every day. We do hope people will take the easy route when they learn about TrulyMail, since we do something quite similar, because with TrulyMail it is all completely automated.

Of course, to create a web-based invitation system like this takes time and money (if you must hire a web developer) and even then it will need to be maintained over time, as does all software. There is also the bigger picture to consider. That is, it is a waste of society resources for everyone to create the same thing. It is much more efficient for one person to create something which can be used by everyone. This is why companies exist, to serve the needs of the public. This is why we created TrulyMail.

Even if you did create your own web-based invitation system, would it solve everything that TrulyMail does? Actually, no, it would not. The reason is, if you are communicating via email, even after the invitation process, you still have the risk of the other party somehow releasing your email address. At that point, you are back to being spammed.

Let's look at it in detail. If you use this kind of web-based email invitation system, how likely is it that the other party is going to give your information to a spammer? Well, not too likely. However, it might be that the spammer takes the information by force. Of course, spammers do not storm a company's headquarters and take data at gun point. No, rather they hack a company's server, take the data, and extract all the value out of it they can.

You don't have to read much news to be familiar with the famous hack of TJX (which is merely one of many), where 45.7 million customer records were stolen. That's a lot of unhappy customers. Of course, that database includes credit card information along with email addresses. Those email address will be sold to spammers because they have value to them. So, even if you had only given that email address to TJX, you will still receive spam; not because of TJX spamming you and not because they sold your information but because your information was stolen.

TrulyMail works differently. If you invited TJX to communicate with you via TrulyMail and then someone stole the TJX database, then that contact information would be worthless. Your contact information, which another user has, only works for that user. That same data simply cannot be used by other users to contact you. This is one of the many ways in which TrulyMail is superior to email: Your information is safe, even if other people are careless.

So, the real solution to stopping spam is not for everyone to build a web-based invitation system. The real solution is to switch to TrulyMail. Only this solution will keep you truly safe.
